Bardic Guild
The heraldry of the Bardic Guild is a silver quill crossed over a golden harp on a field of deep green.
The Bardic Guild, based in the city of Torin, is an esteemed and ancient institution dedicated to the preservation of Morra’s rich history, cultural heritage, and artistic expression. It has long been the home of bards, heralds, musicians, and lorekeepers, who work to document the events, legends, and traditions of the kingdom, ensuring that the stories of the past are passed down through the generations. The guild's members are known for their remarkable skills in music, storytelling, and heraldry, providing entertainment and preserving history in equal measure. Their performances are revered across the land, but their work extends beyond the stage - many members are deeply involved in the scholarly aspects of Morra's history, using their talents to capture the very essence of the kingdom's past.
While the Bardic Guild operates on a grand scale, with its headquarters in Torin, it also has smaller chapters and branches scattered across Sorlamir. One such branch is the Order of the Silver Quill, based in the town of Kemly, where its focus is more specialized and deeply tied to the military. The Order of the Silver Quill is entrusted with the sacred responsibility of maintaining the Legion Scrolls for the Tol Legion, the most powerful military force in Sorlamir. The guild in Kemly serves as the official record-keeper of the legionnaires' deeds, titles, and service. It is considered a great honor to be chosen for such a position, and the members of the Order take their duties seriously, knowing that to be erased from the Legion Scrolls is considered a fate worse than death by many Tol Legionnaires. While the guild’s public presence in Kemly may not be as grand as in larger cities, their role in maintaining the honor and legacy of the Tol Legion is vital and deeply respected.
The Bardic Guild and its branches, like the Order of the Silver Quill, are more than just repositories of music and tales. They are the living keepers of history, the chroniclers of deeds both great and small. The guild's reputation as a center for performance and lore extends far beyond the walls of Torin, though it has a particular rivalry with a similar guild based in the Kingdom of Rein, where another bardic order vies for the title of the best bards of Morra. This rivalry drives both guilds to constantly outdo one another, pushing the boundaries of artistic achievement and historical documentation. In this atmosphere of healthy competition, both guilds continue to thrive, each elevating the role of the bard and herald in the eyes of the people of Sorlamir.
