THE KINGDOM OF SORLAMIR

Sorlamir is divided into shires, each ruled by an Earl. There are four shires, Evanshire, Kemlyshire, Leketteshire, and Torinshire.

EVANSHIRE

Nestled in the eastern expanse of Sorlamir, Evanshire boasts a vibrant landscape adorned with lush forests that adorn the Annwyn River Valley. This idyllic region is not only blessed with the longest river in the kingdom, the Annwyn River, but also thrives on the bounty of its fertile soil, yielding some of Morra's finest crops coveted even by neighboring realms like the Kingdom of Rein.

Anchoring the valley is the bustling port city of Calimoore, where the flow of trade along the navigable Annwyn River brings prosperity to the region. Standing as a sentinel along the route is the Tollgate, a pivotal outpost marking the border between Torinshire and Evanshire, while the renowned Golden Road threads its way through the heart of Evanshire, linking it with the bustling commerce of Torinshire, thereby solidifying Evanshire's significance as a hub of trade, culture, and natural beauty in Sorlamir.

KEMLYSHIRE

Kemlyshire has one of the only few entry points into the land of Rein from Sorlamir. The pass is known as the Cormerra Pass, and is the gap in the fence which holds back the horrors of the Murkwood out of the fertile lands of Sorlamir. Higher in the mountains lies the Sun Road that leads to Fort Kemly, the southern defence and home of the Tol Legion, who have guarded the land for over 800 years.

LEKETTESHIRE

Leketteshire is a realm encompassed by the formidable Mooncrest Mountains, stretching from the twin watchtowers of the Lunar Gate in the east to the rugged Iron Shoulder Mountains in the north and west, and the Sanguine Sea to the south. Its heartland is a picturesque expanse adorned with verdant fields, cerulean skies, and snow-capped peaks. The wide valleys nestled amidst the imposing peaks of the Mooncrest Mountains boast tranquil rivers, rich black soil, and numerous crystalline lakes.

The atmosphere in Leketteshire is crisp and invigorating, with ice and snow gracing the mountain trails even during the summer months. Roak's Spike, the tallest pinnacle of the Mooncrest Mountains, looms majestically over the landscape, while the Skyreach Castle stands sentinel atop its summit. Despite its smaller size compared to Caer Torin and other renowned fortresses, Skyreach boasts ample granaries, ensuring resilience during prolonged sieges.

Guarding the arduous approach are three watchforts—Blackwatch, Goldwatch, and Redwatch—strategically positioned to repel any intruders. In some areas, the mountain path narrows to accommodate only a single traveler, making it an ideal location for ambushes by the watchforts. To the south lies the foreboding Sanguine Sea, where the Mordecan tribes dwell and launch raids from, adding an element of peril to the southern reaches of Leketteshire.

TORINSHIRE

Home to the Royal Crown, the city of Torin rests upon the low mesas of the Iron Shoulder Mountains to the north of Sorlamir. The city itself is home to both the Royal Crown and the Council of Sorcerers. Torin is the center point for several major trade routes through the kingdom and much of the city lies behind the safety of a towering stone wall, and can be accessed by the Westgate, Southgate, or from the Docks. Each gate is of magnificent construction, displaying both the the heraldry of Sorlamir and the current residing Knight-Captain.

The city is well guarded and patrolled by the Torin Guard, under the command of the Lord Marshal, second only to the King. Few guard patrols bother to uphold the King's laws within the Poor Quarter, a district of lower class homes and buildings outside the wall. In this region, crime often runs rampant and criminals are typically dealt with privately with a rough form of law. It is advised to avoid the many dark alleys of the Poor Quarter after the fall of night.

The city exports the food and grain it grows to some of the smaller settlements around it with its chief stock of excess foodstuffs finding their way to the port city of Calimoore to the east. Torin also receives imports from both Calimoore and other kingdoms though the price for these goods are typically far higher than their true value. There are many opportunities within Torin, whether it be a tradesmen, servant, scholar, priest, guard or criminal.

The Temple of Ascension also lies within the city. The Agrielan temple is funded by taxation and charity and is fully supported by both the Crown and the Council of Sorcerers. There is also rumored activity of Kokuathuans within the city, but if true, they are forced to live in secret. Worship of any demonic power within the city is proscribed and those found to be guilty of such an act will be burned at the stake.
